Requirements

Specific requirements to ensure a smooth learning experience

To attend Must Do Training’s Basic First Aid course, candidates must:

  1. Have good written and spoken English.
  2. While there is no minimum age requirement as such, we would recommend that this training be delivered to candidates aged 16 years or older.
Legal Requirements

This course is a legal requirement in Ireland

Although Basic First Aid training is not specifically mentioned as a legal requirement, Employers have a duty of care to their employees and must ensure they are ‘competent’. In many cases subject to risk assessment, company policy recommends basic first aid training for all. specific industries or workplaces may have regulations or guidelines that recommend or require employers to provide adequate first aid training and resources. There is a specific legal duty to provide sufficient first aid responders (FAR). The rights and obligations of both employers and employees in relation to health and safety at work are set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (as amended). Many of the specific health and safety laws are set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007- 2020 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013. Both employees and employers have responsibilities and duties around health and safety at work under these regulations. Employers have a duty of care to their employees and must provide them with Health & Safety instruction, information and training. This instruction, information and training helps them be ‘competent’, acquire knowledge, skills and attitude for a positive health & safety culture.
