Only users on this Register may apply professional grade pesticides. This handheld/knapsack pesticides application training will enable candidates to register for the DAFM Register of Professional Users of Pesticides.

In order to attend QQI Level 5 Boom Sprayer Pesticide Application training, candidates must:

  2. Have an Irish PPS number.
  3. Have good written & spoken English.

The Sustainable Use of Pesticides Regulations 2012 (S.I. 115/2012) outlines regulations concerning the use of pesticides, including handheld (knapsack) application equipment. Compliance with these regulations is essential for anyone involved in applying pesticides, such as farmers, gardeners, council staff, and horticulturalists. Therefore, obtaining certification in handheld pesticide application helps individuals meet legal requirements and ensures compliance with relevant regulations. The rights and obligations of both employers and employees in relation to health and safety at work are set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (as amended). Many of the specific health and safety laws are set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007- 2020 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
