To attend the Solas Safe Pass training course in Dublin, participants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Minimum Age: 16
  2. Irish Personal Public Service (PPS) Number: As a general rule, participants must have an Irish PPS number to attend the training. However, there are particular circumstances where contractors coming to Ireland temporarily may attend. Individuals should contact the training provider for further details in such cases.
  3. Good written & spoken English: Our Safe Pass courses are delivered in English. Candidates must have a good level of English in order to attend. Translators are unfortunately not permitted.

The SOLAS Safe Pass training course is a legal requirement for all construction workers, craft workers, and onsite security personnel etc in the construction industry. According to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, all construction workers must possess a valid Safe Pass card. This one-day safety awareness program aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of construction site hazards and how to prevent accidents. Therefore, obtaining Safe Pass certification is mandatory to ensure compliance with legislation and a safe working environment on construction sites. The rights and obligations of both employers and employees in relation to health and safety at work are set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (as amended). Many of the specific health and safety laws are set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007- 2020 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013. Both employees and employers have responsibilities and duties around health and safety at work under these regulations. Employers have a duty of care to their employees and must provide them with Health & Safety instruction, information and training. This instruction, information and training helps them be ‘competent’, acquire knowledge, skills and attitude for a positive health & safety culture.
